Cleaning The Pool Is Hard Work

Evidently Ethan is a fan of brooms and cleaning in general. He asks for the broom when he comes by my parents' house. My dad taught him that the quickest way to gain admiration for your work was to complain about it. {Haha, just kidding Dad!}

Jillian's New Face

Some of you have already seen this but here it is... the cranky face. This face is often accompanied by rapid breathing through her lips. It is hard not to laugh!

Our L.A. Trip: Conan O'Brien!

Our L.A. trip evolved from my brother getting us VIP tickets to The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. We decided that it would be great to make a couple day trip out of it and so the adventures depicted in the other posts were born. The VIP tickets allowed us to get into a special line an hour before the doors opened, whereas most of the audience had to wait for hours to see the show. One advantage to waiting for hours, you get in first. Our NBC Page (not Kenneth... he's busy in NY) said that VIP ticket holders sit in the 6th, 7th and 8th rows. I guess Conan likes to reward those who wait.

Here's a photo of the audience that I got from our taping (thanks Print Screen and Hulu). Guests were Adam Sandler, Peter Sarsgaard and Kate Voegle.

Here we are in a close up of that same photo. We ended up in the 8th row back from the stage. We were hoping for closer but we got caught up behind some folks in the metal detector line. It was still so much fun! Thanks Ron!

Our L.A. Trip: City Walk

Jason and I enjoyed the stores at City Walk. We browsed through the fun places, including the craptastic souvenir shops.

Rock on, Jason. Rock on.

Yes, those are boobie glasses. Sooooo tacky. Who would actually buy these?

We were jazzed to see there was a restaurant named "Jillian's" at City Walk. It's like Dave and Buster's but smaller and with a bowling alley. The first night we tried to go in it was closed for a private party. So we went back the next day. I wanted to buy anything that said "Jillian's" but no dice. They sell nothing! You can only win logo gear. How dumb is that? Jason and I didn't have time to play $50 worth of skeeball for a coffee mug so we settled for a photo.

Our L.A. Trip: Posing With The Simpsons

So I have a HUGE phobia of costumed characters. I do everything I can to get as far away as possible from them. We've even discussed how Jason will take Jillian to see them all at Disneyland while Mom keeps a safe distance. I really, really was not crazy about the idea of costumed kiddies getting anywhere near me on our trip. But Jason likes them. So I sucked it up and posed with the Simpsons. But, I broke the cardinal rule of posing with costumed characters when you have a phobia: don't show your fear! I made the mistake of exclaiming how freaked out I was with Bart and Lisa. The second photo with them shows Bart taking advantage of my fear to make me as uncomfortable as possible. I may be scarred.

Our L.A. Trip: Universal Studios

We decided to make the most of our trip to L.A. and spend a couple days at Universal Studios. We ended up buying 6 month passes (they were cheaper than a one day ticket!) so if anyone wants to go back with us...

Yes, it's a fanny pack. They had them. In multiple colors and styles. Yikes.

We had a great time. It was very hot but they had Cool Zones with misters and fans. We enjoyed the movie lot tram tour and the Jurassic Park water ride. As you all know, theme parks are great people watching venues. Jason and I had fun just hanging out, eating and observing.

Our L.A. Trip: The Hotel

Jason and I stayed at the Hilton Hotel near Universal Studios. It was literally across the street from the theme park and Citywalk. We got to the hotel earlier than the normal check-in time and expected to leave our luggage with the bell desk, however they had a room available for us. They upgraded us to what they call an alcove room and the view was spectacular!

Jason shows off some of the windows. The windows ran the length of the room and there was at least one more large window past that couch.
Here is the view behind Jason. That's the plaza where you enter the park.

Puffs

So I couldn't resist buying the sweet potato puffs at Target last I went. I am unsure of when to add different types of food to Jillian's diet. I very carefully read the back of the packages on the baby food aisle to see if she was ready. {Now I know that most moms probably just go for food and have done much more at this point but for some reason food is foreign to me.} Puffs seemed fun so I went for it.

Jillian is so funny trying to eat these things. We actually don't hand them to her like the first photo shows but we scatter them on her tray. She does her best to pick them up but they end up hidden in her fist, or stuck to her skin or falling into her lap. It's great to see her try to pick them up though and its cute when she finally gets them to her mouth!

For Lissa

Thanks Auntie Lissa for my Bulldogs onesie.

Playing With Brody

Jillian is becoming more and more interested in Brody. She smiles when she sees him and looks for him whenever he enters the room (he is so loud it is not difficult to tell when he comes in!) Her interest combined with her new ability to crawl means Brody is a frequent destination for her. This has not gone unnoticed by Brody. He now tries to play with Jillian! He will grab his bone and chew it right next to her knowing she will grab for it. I have a few videos where he actually teases her by bringing it to her and then running away and then runs back. It's really funny!

So I'm at the Computer, Working from Home, When I Look Over And...

Ummm... how did you get under the chairs? And were you actually trying to get to the beer?

I'm in a Hat & I'm Going to Get Icees

So I love Jillian in hats. I think she looks frickin' adorable. Recently I was clearing out her 3-6 month clothes and I began trying hats on her to see what still fit and what didn't. I left a few on her for awhile just for fun. Anyways, Jason and I decided to splurge on icees before our big cleanse started. (For those of you who haven't talked to us recently, we're doing a cleanse - Jason much more faithfully than me!) We walked to the gas station to get them.

Jillian and Mama in hats (did I mention that I love 'em?)

Jillian making eyes at Daddy. It is adorable when she looks over at you to share in whatever is going on.

Someone is excited for her icee!

Still occupied with the "new toy" we've placed on her tray. It ended up being a hot day but it was a nice walk and a lot of fun.

Giggly Girl

It's not all that common but Jillian can explode into giggles at times. The grandparents seem to be great at getting those giggles out. Here Grandma Pam finds Jillian's ticklish spot.

Jason & Kristyn - Married 5 Years

Thanks to everyone who texted their warm wishes yesterday. We felt loved and yet like horrible friends. With every text we exclaimed, "We forgot their anniversary!" Jason and I are so lucky to have such wonderful friends and family.
We spent a relaxing day eating, shopping and napping (it was awesome!) We had intentions of movies and tattoos but those will come another day. We're taking a mini vacation to L.A. on June 19th and 20th to see Conan O'Brien and possibly go to Universal Studios. It will be our first overnighter away from Jillian. {Sad face}

3rd of July

Thanks everyone that could make it to our 3rd of July Party!

Aubrey and Cayden Kelly hang out with Uncle Ben Garcia.

Jillian let Great-Grandma Treva hold her. This was a big deal as she has been extra fussy around her great-grandma.

The Kelly family joined us.

Ron, Ethan, and Sarah sans Adam who popped out on Monday.

Matt, Pam and Abbi sharing some photos.

The Kelly's and Kim Garcia. You saw her husband Ben earlier. I guess we missed a photo of her boys.

Wyndi and Bonnie.

The Garcia Family (no relation to the other Garcia's!) Michelle's mom was in town from Tennessee.

Brian was a good sport with all the kiddies running around.

Kristyn and Marisa. Thanks Marisa for making it out to see us!

Delilah Catlett and Kayda. All the kids LOVED Brody and Kayda. In fact, Sam got Callie in her car seat by bringing Kayda out to see her.

Watching the fireworks.

We had a good sized crowd. Same time next year?

Adam Joseph Is Here!!!

I was wrong. It's a boy!

Adam Joseph Canfield made his way into the world early this morning. I'll give you his details later but he's 7lbs something and 21 inches. Sarah and Ron had quite an adventure this morning and didn't think they would make it to the hospital in time! From the time they parked the car to the time he made his debut (7:33 A.M. I think I remember as I am telling this story) it was 19 minutes! Sarah only had to push twice to get this eager boy out. No time for an IV, no time for drugs. Yay for au natural on accident! We agree that he looks a lot like Ethan and that they are going to be best friends!

Congratulations little bro and sis!
